Thanks for answering those questions so honestly. I'm in the same boat as you with regards to having someone I am deeply in love with and wanting to be more intimate but I'm afraid I'd regret it if we didn't last. Any suggestions?

My answer:

Yes, I completely understand this! I’ll tell you my story with him a little bit, and maybe you can take something from my experience? Because I don’t regret it at all.

There are times when I want to regret it, but I love him too much and just can’t feel regret that doesn’t exist.

It was a really big decision for me because I didn’t even know he had feelings for me in the first place. He and I met late 2010 in college (world history and psych, to be exact), and hit it off as friends pretty well. He’s honestly the most beautiful man I have ever met, but naturally I just brushed off any thought of us being more than friends because I thought someone like him could never be interested in me.

So, it gradually hit me. I didn’t realize it yet, but I started to gradually let myself have those feelings for him. And, as time progressed, it’s almost as if I had already thought of him as my first. Because of the connection we have… if that makes sense?

Buuuut because he was being shy with me while he was attending college here in the US, we never acted upon our attraction. Then I found out he was going back to Palestine for school, so we went out one last time, and after that little friend date, that’s when I really started realizing that I love him.

But, I still didn’t know how he felt, so while he was gone, we didn’t get to talk very much, and I tried getting over him… I kind of forgot for a little while, and met someone else to help me feel less lonely. Then, when this new person and I decided that we wouldn’t be good as a couple, well.. the timing was so strange!

Around the time I split up with this person, I ended up finding out by accident that the guy I love was back in town.

My attitude was “Oh, cool, I’ll hit him up and we can hang out again. It’ll be great because I won’t have to worry about having feelings for him because I decided I’m over that.”

LOL nope. As soon as I heard his voice on the phone… It all came right back to me.

It was actually really wonderful, that first night he was here. We had Indian food at the restaurant that he took me to on our first little friend date, then we went back to my house and watched DDLJ, my favorite movie, and we kissed for the first time.

We talked very seriously about going further, and at first I was so unsure because of being scatterbrained with all of these feelings coming back to me, after I had pushed them away.

But then, four days after my birthday, I decided that being with him was the best decision I could ever make. And it was. It was absolutely perfect.

The hardest part is that he had to leave the country two days later, so you see my problem here lol.

Honestly, just follow your heart and if you truly love this person and KNOW this is something you want and won’t regret—then be with them. If you are religious, it is so much harder.

I regret that I sinned, but I don’t regret that it was with him.
